Box Score Stony Brook, N.Y.— The Sacred Heart women's soccer team (1-0-1) road contest against Stony Brook (0-1-1) ended in a 1-1 draw after going to double overtime on Sunday afternoon.
The Pioneers struck first at 13:44 mark with a goal by sophomore
Melanie DaSilva (Bristol, R.I.), her first of the season. DaSilva orchestrated a give and go with junior
Danielle Karpiej (South Windsor, Conn.), who's lead pass allowed for a finish to the near post.
Stony Brook pushed the pace for most of the game, firing off 20 shots to Sacred Heart's seven. The Seawolves got on the board in the 73rd minute thanks to senior Raven Edwards on the feed from junior Christen Cahill.
Both teams failed to find the back of the net the remainder of the game. Sophomore Nicole Sambuco had another strong day behind the net as she recorded a career high eight saves.
The Pioneers are back on the pitch Friday, August 26 as they take on Fairfield as part of the Yale Classic.
First Half
-DaSilva nets first goal of the year in the 13th minute on a give and go play with Karpiej.
-Sambuco gets her first of eight saves on the day at the 29th minute mark.

- A header by Stony Brook's Sam Goodwin hits off the crossbar in the 56th minute.
- Alex Mesropyan's header from Olivia Crema corner kick is blocked in the 68th minute.
- Edwards finds the net for Stony Brook at the 73rd minute.
- Sabuco gets a save at the 87-minute mark as Stony Brook kept attacking.
First Overtime
- Emily Dawidczyk shot at 93rd minute is blocked by Stony Brook's Shannon Robinson.
Second Overtime
- Sambuco has two big saves in the 102nd minute and 104th minute to hold the game.
- Dawidcyzk fires the last Sacred Heart shot wide in the 105th minute.
