SHU Bowling Finishes Kutztown Invite In 12th Place; Boughton Named To All-Tournament Team

READING, Pa. - In a field that included 17 of the top 25 teams in the nation, the Sacred Heart women's bowling team finished the KU Invitational Sunday in 12th place. Sophomore Tori Boughton was named to the All-Tournament First Team.
Day 3: The Pioneers closed the tournament going 1-2 in the bracket round to finish 12th.
Match 1: Maryland-Eastern Shore 4, SHU 2
Lineup: Amanda Nardiello, Courtney McGinn, Dominique Newton, Rachel Bamford, Tori Boughton
- SHU came back from two games down to tie the match 2-2. The Pioneers won game three 201-180 and game four 210-178.
- The Pioneers did not reach 200 in games five or six, falling 236-187 and 212-184.
Match 2: SHU 4, UAB 2
Lineup: Bamford, Nardiello, Newton, McGinn, Boughton
- The Pioneers and Blazers split the first four games.
- SHU came alive in game five with a 235-171 win. The Pioneers were even better in game six, clinching the match win with a 242-195 win.
Match 3: Maryland-Eastern Shore 4, SHU 2.
Lineup: Newton, Nardiello, Bamford, McGinn, Boughton
- SHU won two of the first three games, taking game one 210-166 and game three 202-162.
- UMES won games four, five, and six to win the match 4-2.
Day 2: SHU went 1-3 in traditional matches against top-eight competition, losing two by 20 pins or less. The Pioneers moved up to 11th in the standings with a197.8 average through the first two days. SHU was fourth in scoring on Saturday with 5,069 pins. Tori Boughton was sixth individually with a 225.20 average.
Match 1: #2 McKendree def. #12 SHU 1,162-1,006
- Lineup: Tori Boughton, Rachel Bamford, Dominique Newton, Sarah Morris, Amanda Nardiello
- SHU had its first 1,000-pin game of the weekend, but couldn't get past the 2017 national champions
- Boughton shot 253 in the match. Bamford (214) and Newton (204) each went over 200 as well.
Match 2: #12 SHU def. #7 Stephen F. Austin 1,034-915
- Lineup: Boughton, Bamford, Newton, Courtney McGinn, Nardiello
- Boughton led SHU with a clean 246. McGinn shot a 225 with Bamford putting up a 214.
Match 3: #4 Vanderbilt def. #12 SHU 1,045-1,035
- Lineup: Boughton, Bamford, Newton, McGinn, Nardiello
- Newton had a team-high 226. Bamford posted a 220.
- Boughton (201) and McGinn (200) each went over 200 as well.
Match 4: #3 Arkansas State def. #12 SHU 1,016-996
- Lineup: Boughton, Bamford, Newton, McGinn, Nardiello
- Boughton fired a 224 from the leadoff spot. Nardiello had a 220 as the anchor.
Match 5: SHU had 998 pins against the bye. Rachel Bamford had a 227 as Nardiello and Boughton both had 202s.
Day 1: SHU went 3-2 in baker matches, placing 14th in total pinfall with a 192.9 average.
Match 1: Norfolk State def. #12 SHU 1,039-969
- Lineup: Tori Boughton, Rachel Bamford, Dominique Newton, Sarah Morris, Amanda Nardiello
- Boughton had seven of 10 strikes for a 226. Newton also shot a 226.
Match 2: #12 SHU def. #24 Monmouth 947-837
- Lineup: Boughton, Bamford, Newton, Morris, Nardiello
- Nardiello led SHU with a 227 in the win over the Hawks.
- Bamford had six of 10 strikes for a clean 226.
Match 3: #12 SHU def. #18 Wisconsin-Whitewater 998-892
- Lineup: Boughton, Bamford, Newton, Morris, Nardiello
- Nardiello had a clean 230. Bamford had five strikes on her way to a 205 game.
Match 4: #14 UAB def. #12 SHU 993-926
- Lineup: Boughton, Bamford, Newton, McGinn, Nardiello
- Courtney McGinn came off the bench to roll seven strikes and lead SHU with a 227
Match 5: #12 SHU def. Bethune-Cookman 983-790
-Lineup: Boughton, Bamford, Rebecca Armand, McGinn, Nardiello
- McGinn and Bamford each had a team-high 216. The two combined for 11 strikes.
