
SHU Bowling Claims Third Straight NEC Regular Season Title

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart bowling team claimed its third consecutive Northeast Conference regular season title this weekend after going 3-0 Sunday to finish the second conference meet with a 9-3 record.
The Pioneers finished conference play with an overall record of 13-5, two matches ahead of second-place LIU Brooklyn. SHU will be the top seed at the NEC Championship, held March 23-24 in Howell, N.J. Amanda Nardiello led SHU with a 20.14 frame average over the weekend. Dominique Newton (19.65) and Courtney McGinn (19.17) each averaged over 19 pins per frame.
FRIDAY
Match 1: #10 Fairleigh Dickinson 989, #12 SHU 987
- Lineup: Tori Boughton, Sarah Morris, Dominique Newton, Rachel Bamford, Amanda Nardiello
- Newton led SHU with a 236.
- Nardiello shot a clean 220. Morris also was over 200, bowling a 201.
Match 2: #12 SHU 962, St. Francis Brooklyn 881
- Lineup: Boughton, Morris, Newton, Bamford, Nardiello
- Amanda Nardiello led SHU with a 214 against the Terriers.
- Newton shot a 200.
Match 3: #12 SHU 946, #18 Duquesne 833
- Lineup: Boughton, Casey Smith, Morris, Newton, Nardiello
- Boughton filled 10 frames for a 211.
- Newton shot her third 200-plus game with a 213.
Match 4: #12 SHU 899, Caldwell 838
- Lineup: Boughton, Smith, Rebecca Armand, Newton, Nardiello
- Nardiello was the only Pioneer to top 200 with a 213.
Match 5: #12 SHU 961, #16 LIU Brooklyn 870
- Lineup: Boughton, Julia Favata, Morris, Newton, Nardiello
- Nardiello (218) and Boughton (211) each went over 200.
SATURDAY
Match 1: #14 Saint Francis U 1,014, #12 SHU 899
- Lineup: Boughton, Morris, Bamford, Newton, Nardiello
- Morris shot a 213 in SHU's first match of the day.
Match 2: #12 SHU 941, #14 Saint Francis U 818
- Lineup: Boughton, Morris, Bamford, Newton, Nardiello
- Morris averaged 214 for the match.
- Nardiello posted a 203 with 10 clean frames.
Match 3: #16 LIU Brooklyn 963, #12 SHU 896
- Lineup: Boughton, Bamford, Newton, Morris, Nardiello
- Nardiello filled all 10 frames for a 196.
- Newton led SHU with a 225.
Match 4: #12 SHU 953, #18 Duquesne 847
- Lineup: Courtney McGinn, Bamford, Morris, Newton, Nardiello
- McGinn came off the bench to post a 206.
- Bamford moved into the anchor position with a 211 with 10 clean frames.
- Morris also had a 200.
SUNDAY
Match 1: #12 SHU 953, Caldwell 864
- Lineup: Boughton, Newton, Smith, Morris, Nardiello
- Nardiello had 12 strikes in 16 shots for a 222.
Match 2: #12 SHU 920, St. Francis Brooklyn 852
- Lineup: Boughton, Newton, Smith, Morris, Nardiello
- Smith had five of 10 strikes for a 200.
- Nardiello filled 10 frames from the anchor spot for a 212.
- The win over the Terriers locked up the regular season title.

- SHU ended the weekend with its highest-scoring match
- Nardiello threw 12 strikes and had a clean 254
- Newton and McGinn each had six strikes. Newton posted a 213 with McGinn recording a 203.
