ALBANY, N.Y. - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team fell to Albany, 8-1 on the road Friday afternoon. Bridget LaRiccia scored the lone goal for the Pioneers, while Bridget Kelly notched a defensive save as well.

With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 1-9 on the season, while the Great Danes improve to 6-3 on the season with the win. SHU will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 4 when the Pioneers travel to take on NEC-foe Fairfield at 4 p.m.

First Quarter

(3:36): Cosima Rocktaeschel sent a pass to the middle to Katie MacCallum, who took a reverse chip-shot on net for a goal
(4:54): MacCallum sent a pass to Rocktaeschel, who directed it to the back of the net to put Albany up 2-0
(10:10): Colleen McAninley sent a pass to Bridget LaRiccia in the middle, who directed it home to cut the deficit to 2-1

Second Quarter

(17:39): Baylee Burghardt collected a rebound and shot it past the keeper to give Albany a 3-1 lead
