
Lewis Signs NWHL Contract With The Metropolitan Riveters

MONMOUTH JUNCTION, N.J.- The NWHL (National Women's Hockey League) team the Metropolitan Riveters has signed Sacred Heart University Women's Ice Hockey forward Jayne Lewis to join the team for the 2020-21 season.
"Congratulations to Jayne on her signing a professional contract with the Metropolitan Riveters. I know that all of Jayne's former teammates, and her coaches are very proud of her, and we wish her the very best in her professional career. Knowing Jayne, and what she brings onto the ice everyday, will add greatly to the success this season. We wish Jayne the best of luck and the rest of the team this season and we can't wait to see her play in the coming year." Sacred Heart University Women's Ice Hockey head coach Thomas O'Malley on Lewis signing with the Riveters.
Lewis tallied 69 goals and 71 assists for a program leading 140 points in 125 career games with SHU. She was the Pioneers highest-scoring player for SHU in the 2019-20 season and was named NEWHA Player of the Year for her 22 goal, 13 assist for 35 point senior season. As a Pioneer, Lewis tallied and scored at least 19 goals in each of her last three seasons with the program.
As a senior in 2019-20, Lewis ranked third in the NEWHA in total points while leading the alliance in goals. Lewis ranked eighth in the nation in goals per game averaging .69 goals per game while placing tied for sixth in the nation in total goals scored.
