Four Wins for Men’s Fencing at the First NFC Meet

The Pioneers shutout University of New Hampshire in the opening round, 27-0.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — After starting out strong in round one of the first Northeast Fencing Conference meet of the season with a 27-0 shutout, the Sacred Heart University men's fencing team secured four wins on Saturday.
The Red & White improve to 11-3 overall with a 4-3 record amongst league opponents.
The saber squad consisting primarily of Domenic Bartolo, Vijay Ganta and Mateo Villarreal dominated the weapon with four wins. Ganta led the trio with a 10-4 record across five rounds.
The epee and foil units each secured three individual wins during the meet.
Cameron Silver had the best overall record of the day after going 11-3 in the epee. First-year Connor Kravit was success on the strip with a 8-6 bout record.
In the foil, standouts Lawrence Tan and Tomas Koeck dominated their matchups with a 11-4 and 10-5 record, respectively.
The team did not participate in rounds four and eight and received a win by forfeit in round seven over Tufts University.
The Pioneers host their only home meet of the season at 10 a.m. on December 5 in the William H. Pitt Center.
