
Record Breaking Points and a Podium Finish for Olivia McNicholas Keep SHU in the Lead After Day Two at NEC Championships

NEW BRITAIN, Conn.- Day two of the NEC Championships concluded today as the Sacred Heart University swimming program holds its lead through team events with 94 points. First-year Olivia McNicholas highlighted the 1-meter diving on Sunday as she took the podium with a second-place finish and receives All-Conference honors for her performance in both diving events.
Combining both the 3-meter and 1-meter event points, the 94 total points the Pioneers have scored is the most in program history at the championships.
SHU now looks towards the swimming events which begin on Tuesday, March 30 in Carlisle, Pa.
Sunday 1M Diving Prelim Results
- Five divers competed in the 3m Diving Preliminary trials in which first-year Olivia McNicholas stood out placing third which was the best among the SHU divers with a score of 198.10.
- Sophomore Megan McLaughlin finished seventh with a score of 177.80 while Sara Anastasi (10th 162.25), Alexandra Bonanno (12th 151.50), Natalie Carbone (13th, 147.75), and Jessica Pianese (20th, 115.45) rounded out the divers in the 1-meter prelims.
Sunday 1M Diving Consolation Results
- Natalie Carbone took first in the 1M diving consolation final with a score of 174.20.
- Sara Anastasi placed fourth with a score of 161.10 while Alexandra Bonanno rounded out the three in the consolation round in seventh with a score of 140.20.
Sunday 1M Diving Finals Results
- Olivia McNicholas and Megan McLaughlin were the two to advance to the finals as McNicholas took second place with a score of 198.10 and McLaughlin placed sixth with a score of 177.80.
