Palumbo, Accousti and Naegele pick up victories.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's wrestling team made a late charge, but the close bouts didn't go the Pioneers' way against Franklin & Marshall College on Sunday. The Pioneers fell to the Diplomats, 28-13.

Joe Accousti got the Pioneers on the board when he prevailed, 5-1, at 197 pounds. Robert Hetherman was on his way to a victory at 184 pounds before an injury knocked him out of the contest.

The Diplomats took the next three bouts to build a 22-3 lead. At 141 pounds, sophomore Chris Naegele broke that streak with his 13-3 major decision over FMC's Nick Tewell.

Picking up SHU's second win in three matches was senior Nick Palumbo. He pinned Christiaan Dailey at the 5:37 mark of their 157-pound contest.

SHU is on the road next Sunday to face Bloomsburg at 1 p.m.
