Looking to bounce back after its first loss in a month, the Sacred Heart University football team returns home to Campus Field on Saturday to face Saint Francis. The Pioneers (4-3 overall, 2-1 NEC) have won their first three home games of the season. The Red Flash (5-2, 4-0) are on top of the Northeast Conference and have won their last five games after an 0-2 start. Sacred Heart has won the last four contests with Saint Francis after a narrow 14-13 win in Loretto in 2021.
OPENING KICKOFF
- After having its three-game winning streak snapped at Merrimack, the Sacred Heart football team is back at home on Saturday to face Saint Francis.
- The Red Flash is coming into the game tied with Merrimack for the NEC lead after beating Stonehill, 17-13.
- The Pioneers have won the last four meetings with Saint Francis after the 14-13 decision in Loretto last year. SFU's missed a game-winning field goal as time expired.
- Quarterback Marquez McCray threw for over 300 yards for the second game in a row at Merrimack, moving him up to fourth in school history with 4,657 yards and 386 completions.
- Rob DiNota was the main recipient of McCray's passes, hauling in a career-high 120 yards on six catches.
- Safety Marques Mason became the fifth-different Pioneer to record double-digit tackles with a career-best 10 stops at Merrimack.
- Sacred Heart has one of the top passing defenses in the country, ranking third in yards allowed (119.4) and fourth in efficiency (102.4).
