Pryor and Owusu-Mensah score in double figures
FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team fell to La Salle, 69-48, on Thursday. The visitors jumped out to an earlier lead that the Pioneers could not overcome.

Sacred Heart struggled to find its scoring rhythm as La Salle jumped to a 12-1 lead in the first quarter.
Ny'Ceara Pryor and sophomore Afia Owusu-Mensah contributed points to make it an eight-point game with 1:37 left before the Explorers tallied back-to-back baskets to extend the deficit to 12.
At the start of the second quarter, Owusu-Mensah scored eight of the next 10 unanswered points to cut the score within single digits. After La Salle responded with seven-straight points, Carly Stroemel notched back-to-back baskets to bring the Pioneers back within nine, but that was as close as the Pioneers could get as the Explorers went on to build their lead.
La Salle shot 24-of-56 (42.9%) from the field and 11-of-26 (42.3%) from behind the three-point line compared to Sacred Heart who was 19-of-57 (33.3%) overall and 3-of-15 (20.0%) from behind the arc.
Prior led the Pioneers with 15 points to go along with seven steals. Owusu-Mensah produced a career-high 14 points.
First-year Amelia Wood grabbed a game-high eight rebounds while Stroemel blocked a career-high four shots.
