
Pioneers Conclude Season with Sharks Saturday

The Sacred Heart University football team will try to send its senior out with a victory as they host LIU at 12 p.m. on Saturday. The Pioneers (5-5 overall, 3-3 Northeast Conference) are coming off a 38-28 victory at Wagner last weekend while the Sharks (3-7, 3-3 NEC) are finding their footing under first year head coach Ron Cooper. Sacred Heart has taken the last three minutes with the Sharks and won last year's contest to clinch the NEC title.
OPENING KICKOFF
- Looking to end the year on a high note, Sacred Heart plays its final game of the season Saturday against LIU.
- Prior to the game, head coach Mark Nofri and the coaching staff will honor the 26 seniors on this year's game.
- Sacred Heart snapped a three-game losing streak last Saturday when it defeated Wagner, 38-28.
- LIU comes into the game on a three-game winning streak, including a 34-28 win over Stonehill last weekend.
- The Pioneers have won the last three contests with the Sharks, including last year's 38-14 victory to clinch the NEC Championship.
- Malik Grant rushed for a season-high 165 yards with three touchdowns (2 rushing, 1 receiving) at Wagner and needs 40 to cross the 1,000-yard mark.
