Sacred Heart Comeback Not Enough in 65-56 Loss to Iona

Pryor posts first 20-point performance of her career
FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team dug itself an early hole and despite its best efforts could not come all the way back. The Pioneers lost 65-55 to Iona on Sunday.

After Iona extended its lead by 15 at the 6:59 mark of the second quarter, senior Olivia Tucker drained a three and Sacred Heart went on a 16-7 run to cut the score to 40-32 going into halftime.
First year Ny'Ceara Pryor posted a scoring run of her own with six-straight points in the final two minutes, but it was not enough for the Pioneers to complete the comeback.
Iona shot 58.1% (25-43) from the field compared to Sacred Heart's 41.5% (22-53). In addition, the Gaels outscored the Pioneers 36-18 in the paint.
Pryor notched the first 20+ point performance of her career with 24. Graduate student Sajada Bonner and senior Olivia Tucker finish with 15 and 11, respectively.
