SHU drops EIWA opener
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Sacred Heart University men's wrestling team had a tough bout to start the 2022-23 season. The Pioneers dropped a 44-0 Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association decision to 17th-ranked Lehigh on Sunday.
SHU starts the year 0-1 overall and in the league. Lehigh improved to 2-0, 1-0 in the EIWA.
The Pioneers closest contest came at the start of the meet. Andrew Fallon, a transfer from American, dropped a 4-1 decision to Connor McGonagle at 133 pounds. At 157 pounds, grad student Nick Palumbo fell, 8-0, to 10th-ranked Josh Humphreys.
Up next for the Pioneers is a return trip to Bethlehem for WrangleMania as the Pioneers will take on LIU, Army and No. 22 Rutgers.
