
Women's Fencing Notches Three Wins at First NFC Match

WALTHAM, Mass. — At the first Northeast Fencing Conference of the year, Sacred Heart University women's fencing secured three victories on the day against the University of New Hampshire, Smith College and Boston University.
Foil Emma turner went 3-0 against Smith College while Ava Masi contribute for two victories as well. The epee squad won a tight 5-4 contest, as Megan Hillyer and Grace accounted for two wins a piece to net the bout victory. The saber squad also came out on top 5-4 against Smith College with Tiffany Kellstrom getting the deciding victory to help the Pioneers to a 16-11 overall win.
The Pioneers were able to edge out Boston University 14-13 overall. In a close 5-4 victory, the foil squad saw each participant earn at least one victory, with Masi grabbing the deciding point to give the Pioneers the edge. The saber squad had similar results in a 6-3 victory, as Kellstrom, Taylor Hall and Alexandria Lovasi each went 2-1 to seal the victory for the round.
