BOSTON— The Sacred Heart University men's & women's track & field teams wrapped up the New England Intercollegiate Championships on Saturday.
The men placed sixth out of 22 teams and first among four Northeast Conference teams with 39 points led by
Owen Nassaney who placed second on a 2.00m clearance in the high jump.
Joseph Morrone crossed the finish line for fourth in the 200m at 22.55.
Lance Hayes earned fifth while setting a personal-best time of 1:05.80 in the 500m dash.
Jonathan Mahon earned sixth in the 400m dash at 50.82 and
Ryan Corbett ran a seventh-place finish of 2:35.32 in the 1000m.
Nazir Hibbert placed eighth in the high jump with 1.90m while
Jordan Leon finished ninth in the 800m at 2:00.49.
The team of Hayes, Mahon, Morrone and
Rafael Mahario earned sixth with a time of 3:21.97 in the 4x400 relay. Hayes would compete again in the 4x800 relay with
Jordan Leon,
Kevin Martin and
Shane Negast, where they claimed ninth at 8:24.58.
The women finished in seventh out of 21 teams and first among four NEC teams with 40 points. Three Pioneers placed in the top five, led by
Kaylee Stenderowicz who matched her PR of 11.88m while claiming second in the triple jump.
Maya Mocarski ran a season-high 7.83 to earn third in the 60m dash. The junior now stands fifth in the conference in this event.
Three Pioneers placed in the top-10 in the shot put led by
Abbie Mokwuah (12.84m) in fourth,
Samantha Curran (12.58m) in sixth and
Sarah Mitchell (12.08m) in eighth. All three earned All-New England Honors for their performances.
Megan Schneider (800m, 9.11) and
Nicole Szilagyi (60m hurdles, 9.11) placed seventh in their events.
Tara Brody rounded out the top-10 with a tenth-place finish in the triple jump on a 10.75m leap.

Kelly Parker and
Cassandra Sturdevant finished sixth in the 4x800 relay at a time of 9:52.38.
