Box Score TRUMBULL, Conn. – In a tight matchup with Hofstra on Sunday evening, the Sacred Heart University men's tennis team came up short in its home opener, 5-2. 
 
SHU grabbed singles victories in Matya Vencl who defeated his opponent in straight sets, and Kevin Chao with a come-from-behind three-set win. 
 
The Pioneers dropped four tightly played singles matches. At second singles, Lefteri Apostolou forced a tiebreaker in the first set and squeaked it out, 7(3)-6. The sophomore dopped the second set, 0-6, and was unable to outlast Hofstra's Ostap Kovalenko in the third. 
 
The doubles pair of William Wibmer and Apostolou grabbed the lone doubles win of the day for the Red & White, 6-4, at first doubles.
