FAIRFAX, Va. & NEW HAVEN, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University men's and women's track & field teams competed at the George Mason Springtime Invitational and the Southern Connecticut State Wilton Wright Invitational on Saturday.
In the Springtime Invitational,
Kaylee Stenderowicz broke the school outdoor record in the triple jump, finishing fourth on an 11.98m leap.
Nicole Szilagyi notched sixth in the 100m hurdles, crossing the finish line at 14.81.
Abbie Mokwuah threw for a season-best 12.89m in the shot put to claim seventh.
In the Wilton Wright Invitational, the women placed seventh with 43.5 points while the men finished ninth with 27. Sacred Heart saw Pioneers win their events.
Jennifer Pasram lept for 3.50m in the pole vault, while
Cameron Croce threw for 54.73m in the hammer throw.
Kimora Johnson ran a PR of 15.72 to finish second in the 100m hurdles, and
Daniel DiGangi also placed second in the pole vault at 4.25m. Sacred Heart saw third-place finishes from
Austin Cekuta (3000 Steeplechase, 10:51.11 (PR)),
Jenna Engels (pole vault, 3.35m) and
Sierrah Rich (javelin, 36.83m).
Emily Arthur (3000 Steeplechase, 15:05.84) and
Ariana Monarca (5000m, 19:53.97) notched fifth place in their events.
Up next, Sacred Heart heads to the University of Connecticut Northeast Challenge and Heptathlon and Decathlon on April 15-16. Both contests are set to begin at 11 a.m.
