Stenderowicz and Morrone place first

SMITHFIELD, R.I.— The Sacred Heart University men's and women's track & field teams took part in the final day of the Bryant Black & Gold Invitational on Saturday. The women earned fifth while the men finished seventh.

For the women, Kaylee Stenderowicz won the triple jump at 11.45m and placed sixth in the long jump at 4.98m. Brigit Kelly (500m, 18:48.39) and Nicole Szilagyi (100m hurdles, 14.74) picked up second in their events. Jenna Engels and Jennifer Pasram tied for third in the pole vault on a 3.45m leap. Lauren Tanner registered a personal best of 41.43m to finish fourth in the javelin throw.

Tara Brody earned fifth in the triple (10.49m), eighth in the long jump (4.88m) and tenth in the 400m hurdles (1:09.96, PR).

Kimora Johnson notched seventh in the triple jump at 10.17m and recorded a personal best time of 16.13, earning eighth in the 100m hurdles.

Other Pioneers with top-10 finishes were Emily Bloom (6th, 19:15.82 (PR), 5000m), Mollie Rogan (6th, 13:20.54 (PR), 3000m Steeple), Grace Sousa (7th, 19:27.41 (PR), 5000m) and Olivia Suter (9th, 1:09.05 (PR), 400m hurdles).

On the men's side, Joseph Morrone won the 400m hurdles at a time of 54.72. The first-year is now tied for first in the Northeast Conference in the event. Jonathan Mahon registered PRs in the 200m (3rd, 22.28) and 100m (9th, 11.11). Lance Hayes ran a personal best time of 1:55.11 for a fifth-place finish in the 800m.

Jordan Greene registered a PR of 11.57m to earn fourth in the triple jump. Daniel DiGangi lept 4.10m to finish fifth in the pole vault.

Cameron Croce (40.30m, Discus), James Moore (10:58.04, 3000m Steeple) and Alexander Weiler (53.20m (PR), Javelin) earned seventh in their events. Matthew Zawaski placed ninth in 400m at a time of 51.34.

The team of Hayes, Mahon, Morrone and Shane Negast earned third in the 4x400 relay at a time of 3:20.56.
