LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J.— The Sacred Heart University men's and women's track & field teams saw the Pioneers claim numerous individual accolades, including three first place performances at the Rider Invitational on Saturday.
The women claimed second as a team with 92 points while the men finished fourth with 73 points.
Kaylee Stenderowicz clinched first in the triple jump on an 11.93m leap.
Tara Brody jumped at 11.03m to finish fifth in the event.
Jennifer Pasram secured second in the pole vault at 3.55m, while
Hope Handlin placed fourth and matched her personal best of 3.40m. Three Pioneers earned third in their events:
Kaitlyn Luba in the javelin throw (38.51m),
Maya Mocarski in the 100m dash (12.69) and
Nicole Szilagyi in the 100m hurdles (15.23).
Brigit Kelly (3000 Steeplechase, 11:57.96) and
Abbie Mokwuah (Shot put, 12.94m) earned fifth.
The team of
Madison Breckner,
Tori Chorzepa,
Alexa Kavarsky and
Megan Schneider crossed the finish line for second in the 1,600m relay with a time of 4:12.57.
Joseph Morrone had a career day for the men as he set a new school record in the 400m hurdles and earned first on a PR time of 53.05. The first year also placed first in the 110m hurdles at 15.08.
Jonathan Mahon (3rd, 49.17) and
Rafael Mahario (5th, 49.80) earned top-five finishes and personal bests in the 400m dash. Mahario also set a PR in the high jump while placing fourth on a 1.79m leap. Cameron notched fourth in the hammer throw (56.39m) and discus throw (42.23m PR).
Two of the men's teams placed in the top three for the Pioneers. Mahon, Morrone,
Lance Hayes and
Matthew Zawaski secured first in the 1,600m relay at 3:19.13. The team of Mahon,
Corry Brinken,
Corey Duncanson,
Justin Infante,
Jacob Niesen and
Jack Sarkisian earned second in the 400m relay at 43.25.
