Manetta earns program's fifth consecutive NEC Winter Scholar Athlete award
SOMERSET, N.J. – Adding to her decorated season, junior Hannah Manetta of the Sacred Heart University women's bowling team earned Northeast Conference Winter Scholar-Athlete. The honor was announced by the league office on Wednesday as she represents women's bowling and shares the honor with Fairleigh Dickinson's Jenna Henderson.
All scholar-athlete award winners must have earned a minimum of 60 semester hours at their institution, maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20 and participated with distinction as a member of a varsity team.
Manetta was a consistent stand-out this season as she led the Pioneers to their fifth NEC Regular Season and Championship crown. The postseason run also led to SHU's eighth NCAA appearance. Her performance tabbed her on the All-NEC First Team list as well as National Tenpin Coaches Association Second Team All-Region. A member of NEC's All-Tournament Team, the Huntington Station, N.Y. native knocked down 21.37 pins per frame and ranked fourth amongst competitors with a 22.75 baker pin average. She also filled nearly 90 percent of her 66 tournament frames bowled.
In the classroom, Manetta posts a 3.83 cumulative GPA while studying Interdisciplinary Studies. Manetta is the fifth Pioneer in a row to earn the distinction and seventh overall.
