CSC RELEASE
FAIRFIELD, Conn. — In acknowledgment of both their on-court and academic achievements, Sacred Heart University women's volleyball standouts Kate Anderson, Dominique Felix, Camryn Luginbuhl and Jasmine Rogers earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District accolades.
For the second consecutive season, the Pioneers hosted the Northeast Conference Tournament after earning a share of the league's regular-season championship with an 11-3 conference record. SHU has reigned as the class of the NEC for years now, winning a regular-season or tournament title in each of the last five seasons.
Anderson appeared in 26 matches as a senior middle blocker in 2023, ranking second on the team with a .266 hitting percentage and 0.74 blocks per set. The Weston, Conn., native finished the season with 67.0 total blocks, six solo and 61 assisted, ranking ninth in the NEC. She also tallied 1.57 kills per set, which ranked third on the Pioneers. In the classroom, Anderson maintains a 3.73 cumulative GPA as a Psychology major.
Felix adds today's honor to her long list of accomplishments, as she was named All-NEC First Team this season to go along with Second Team and Rookie of the Year nods in 2020-21. The outside hitter from Pittsburgh, Pa., started all 27 matches this year and was second on the team with 2.73 kills and third with 2.20 digs per set. Her kills per set ranked sixth in the conference. Felix holds a cumulative GPA of 3.96 and is pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree.
Luginbuhl, a back-to-back All-NEC Second Teamer, paced the Pioneers and ranked fourth in the NEC with 2.95 kills per set while hitting .170. The Tolland, Conn., native appeared in 26 of 27 matches this season with 17 starts and led the team with 280.5 points. Luginbuhl, a junior Communication Disorders major, has a cumulative GPA of 3.91.
Rogers started in all 27 matches for SHU at libero this season, being one of just three Pioneers to accomplish that feat. The Ridgewood, N.J., native set new career highs with 133 (1.41/set) and 380 digs (4.04/set) in her graduate season and was named to the All-NEC Second Team for the first time in her career. For her leadership on and off the court, Rogers was named a team captain before the start of the season. She became the fifth Pioneer in program history with 1,300 career digs, ending her collegiate tenure with 1,302. She is pursuing a Master of Public Administration with a 3.70 cumulative GPA.
