
Brogioli and Archangelo Headline URI Pentathlon

Pioneers duo earn personal-bests in competition
KINGSTON, R.I. — Magdalena Brogioli and Madeline Archangelo shared the spotlight as the Sacred Heart University women's track and field multi-event athletes participated at the University of Rhode Island Pentathlon on Friday afternoon.
Brogioli continued her early-season dominance placing fourth overall, accumulating a personal-best score of 3,481 after earning second place finishes in the 60m hurdles and setting a personal-best in high jump, clearing 1.68 meters. Archangel took fifth place in her first pentathlon of the season, setting a personal-best overall score of 3,417 after winning shot put with a personal-best mark of 11.70m and a third place showing in the 800m, finishing the event with a personal-best 2:31.26 time.
First year's Jessica Bianco, Inga Jung and Kayleigh Troy also competed during the one-day meet, with Bianco earning 12th place, while Jung and Troy had strong showings to round out the finishers. Bianco earned a top-10 finish in the high jump after clearing a mark of 1.50m, while Jung earned a ninth-place finish in the long jump, setting a mark of 5.12 meters. Troy earned an eighth-place finish in the high jump with a clearance of 1.53 meters after not competing in the 60m hurdles.

The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday, December 9, with an appearance at the Yale Season Opener at Coxe Cage in New Haven, Conn. Field events are slated to begin at 9 a.m. while the track events are scheduled for 1 p.m.
