SHU Completes Regular Season at Home

Saturday is Senior Day

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey skates in its last regular season games this weekend against Saint Michael's. The contests at Martire Family Arena are Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. Fans can watch both games on NEC Front Row.

Saturday is senior day for the Pioneers, who will honor Sophie Lupone, Cassandra Nevers, Nicole Guidi, Erika Lizotte, Kelly Solak, Elizabeth Jacobson, Rachael DeLong, Natalie Kennedy, Delani MacKay, Samantha Ostrowski and Charlotte Huntington..

The Pioneers head into their final pair of NEWHA games 14-16-2 overall and 11-10-1 in conference. Saint Michael's comes in with a 1-23-3 overall record and 1-18-3 in NEWHA action. SHU split last weekend's series with first-place LIU, losing 2-1 at Fairfield before winning by the same score at East Meadow, N.Y. The Purple Knights go into the last weekend of competition off a pair of losses to Stonehill College.

Delani MacKay leads the Pioneers in goals, assists and points with 14, 12 and 26, respectively, which rank sixth, 10th and sixth in the conference. Meanwhile, Molly Elmore's .682 winning percentage ranks her at the top, while Carly Greene's .923 save percentage is top four.

The Pioneers have beaten the Purple Knights 30 times in 38 head-to-head contests, losing four and tying four as well. The Pios, who have outscored them 9-0 this winter, are riding a 15-game winning streak against Saint Michael's, dating to January of 2019.

Senior Day Saturday includes a pre-game ceremony with parents, a post-game skate with the Pios and a celebration in the Consigli Club.
