
Ganta Places Second in Individual Saber

Belluomo Ties Third for Individual Foil
Wellesley, Mass. — Vijay Ganta finished second in men's individual saber as David Belluomo finished tied third in individual men's foil and Patrick Simpson finished sixth in men's individual epee from the Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse and Multipurpose Gymnasium on Saturday in the NEIFC Championship.
Saturday's NEIFC Championships crowned team, squad and individual champions in foil, epee, and sabre, with team competition beginning in squad round robins before an elimination round that included a round robin pool and bracket determined the individual champion in each weapon.
Men's team saber finished second overall as Ganta led the way with help from Domenic Bartolo, Mateo Villarreal, Titan Wiles and Max Cheung.
Foil
Men's foil finished sixth out of 14 schools, besting foes such as Dartmouth, UConn and University of New Hampshire with strong efforts from David Belluomo, Jacob Bartel, Trent Miller, Stephen Neri and Leonardo Cruz Zurita. Belluomo recorded four victories with a +8 touch ratio, second highest among the weapon.
Epee
Patrick Simpson, Jeffrey Palma and Brennan Robbins led men's epee to a fourth place finish, placing just behind UMass, Vassar College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Simpson recorded two victories and had a 20:21 touch ratio.
Saber
The saber squad finished second overall, as Vijay Ganta posted four victories and a +7 touch ratio which tied him first in that category for men's saber.
