Pios earn strong performances in jumps on final day
BOSTON — Seven top-10 placements in jumps concluded a good showing for the Sacred Heart University women's track and field team as it took part at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic on Saturday.
The Pios earned five of their seven top-10 placements in the pole vault with Jenna Engels taking the top team finish, placing fourth in the event after clearing 3.47m. Senior Jennifer Pasram and first year Chloe Amos tied for seventh while Elizabeth Apostolico and Erin Dunn rounded out the top-10 finishers, placing ninth and tenth, respectively.
Senior Kaylee Stenderowicz took one of the remaining top-10 finishes after finishing seventh in the triple jump having set a mark of 11.37m on her fifth attempt. Ava Coscia earned the Pios last top-10 placement with a 10thplace finish in the high jump, clearing 1.55m, while first year Lauryn Piccirelli took 11th in the event with a matching height.
SHU earned good showings on the track with Emily Raymond claiming 15th in the 500m, setting a personal-best time of 1:20.57 as part of four Pios who placed inside the top-20 in the event. SHU also had strong performances in the Invite 60m hurdles with Magdalena Brogioli and Madeline Archangelo taking 11th and 12thin the event while Jessica Bianco and Nicole Parise took 11th and 16th in the Open 60m hurdles to round out the top finishes for the Pios.
