The Pioneers travel to BU on Sunday
FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team is back in action on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Boston University. The Pioneers return to the road following their thrilling 67-54 home victory over Central Connecticut State on Thursday, Nov. 21 in the opening night of the newly renovated William H. Pitt Center.

- Sacred Heart and Boston University meet for the second time ever on Sunday. The two teams played for the first time last season at SHU. The Terriers won, 70-49.
- Tanner Thomas was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week, following his 18-point performance against CCSU.
- Three Pioneers are averaging double figures: Thomas (12.2), Anquan Hill (12.3 through three games), and Amiri Stewart (11.4).
- Bryce Johnson leads the team in rebounds with 6.6 per game, followed by Raymond Espinal-Guzman (4.0).
- First-year Mekhi Conner is the team leader in assists (3.3) and Stewart leads the team in steals (1.9)
- Sacred Heart returns three active members from last year's team: Thomas, who made nine appearances before missing the remainder of the season with an injury. Raymond Espinal-Guzman, a redshirt junior forward who appeared in 24 games last season, and Aidan Carpenter, a redshirt junior guard who made 30 appearances with 16 starts.
- Thomas was named to the All-MAAC preseason third team.
- Johnson returns to Sacred Heart after a year at Northeastern.
- This year is Sacred Heart's first season as a full-time member of the MAAC.
- The Pioneers have 10 new players on the team.
- Head Coach Anthony Latina is in his 12th season as head coach and 20th year overall with the Pioneers.
- Sacred Heart won its home opener against Central Connecticut State, 67-54, before the Thanksgiving break.
- Thomas scored a game-high 18 points with five rebounds to claim his first MAAC Player of the Week honor.
- Stewart (14 pts, 7 rbs, 4 steals), and Conner (10 pts, 3 assists, 2 steals) also scored in double figures for the Pios.
- SHU led by as many as 23 points in the victory.
- CCSU scored the last nine points to cut the deficit to 13 for the 67-54 final.
