Junior earns first All-Conference selection
BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (November 6, 2024) – Junior back Emma Brayford (Breiningsville, Pa.) of the Sacred Heart University field hockey team has earned All-Northeast Conference Second Team honors, as announced on Wednesday afternoon in the league's year-end awards. It is the first All-Conference selection of her career.
Brayford was a key cog in a SHU defensive unit which ranks third in the NEC in goals-against average (1.83), and her three defensive saves put her tied for third in the league. She missed the start of the year due to injury, but made 13 appearances for the Pios, including nine starts. Also a part of the team's attack penalty corner unit, Brayford finished as SHU's leading scorer, with nine points on three goals and three assists. The three goals tied for the team lead as well.
SHU finished 6-12 (2-6 NEC) and seventh in the league.
