NORWALK, Conn. — The Sacred Heart University equestrian team wrapped up its regular season schedule in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) format, claiming the Zone I Region V Championships with a High Point Team finish ahead of in-state rivals UConn on Saturday morning.
The Pioneers earned 15 podium finishes across the Fences and Flats portions of the show including nine first-place showings during the event. In Open Fences,
Kylie Hwalek earned her second-consecutive victory while
Lauren Radi followed in second place for the second-consecutive show.
Paige Sutton also had a strong show, taking first in Intermediate Fences before solidifying her stance as High Point Rider with a first-place honor in Section A of Limit Flats.
Reagan Waggoner, who finished third in Intermediate Fences, took Reserve High Point Rider following a first-place finish in Intermediate Flat.
SHU received multiple podiums in Flats with
Ciara O'Sullivan taking second in Limit Flat A and
Beverly Banerji taking third in Limit Flat B.
Gianna Carducci took third in Limit Flat C while
Ava Flannery and
Morgan Gariepy took top honors in Novice and Pre-Novice, respectively.
Morgan McCrave took first in Intro while
Eleese Shillingford earned second in Intermediate Flat before Radi rounded out the 15 podium placements with a bronze in the Open Flat.
