Andrew Fallon picks up two wins at 133lbs and will compete for a spot in the 3-4 match

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Sacred Heart University men's wrestling team was back in action today at the 2024 EIWA Championships, hosted by Bucknell.

Andrew Fallon (133) and Vincent Milazzo (141) earned victories for the Pioneers, while Fallon is currently battling for a spot in the 3-4 match. He will return to the mat tomorrow, March 9th for day two of the championship.

At the end of day one, SHU recorded a team score of six points, just eight points behind Hofstra's, who has 14 points. Cornell leads the two-day event with a team score of 91.5 points, followed by Lehigh with 80.5 points. Rounding out the top three is Army West Point and Pennsylvania, who are currently tied with a 62.5 team score.

Player Notables:

Fallon's first win of the day was in the consolation bracket of eight, where he defeated Princeton's Sean Pierson by a 12-5 decision after falling in his opening match to Braden Basile of Army by decision.
Fallon capped the day with a thrilling 12-9 decision against Drexel's John Hildebrandt to advance to the consolation of four portion of the bracket.
Millazzo's lone win of the two-day event was in the round of 32. He won by major decision, 12-1, against Hofstra's Alex Turley.
Also taking part in today's event were Connor MacDonald (157), Calvin Pineda (165), Owen Ayotte (174), Jake Trovato (197), and Marc Berisha (285). Unfortunately, this group was unable to walk away with a win for the Pioneers.
