
Pearson Grabs Fourth as Men's T&F Decathletes Conclude Silfen Invitational

Three first year multi's grab numerous personal-bests across weekend meet
NEW LONDON, Conn. — Langston Pearson finished up a career-best at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College this past weekend, finishing in fourth place as three members of the Sacred Heart University men's track and field team competed in the decathlon across the two day meet.
Pearson, who grabbed fourth place with a personal-best total of 5398 points, also earned personal-bests in five individual event groups. Having grabbed three first-place finishes across the long jump, shot put and high jump, the first year grabbed fifth-place in the pole vault and javelin, setting personal-bests in the process. On the track, he grabbed second in the 110m hurdles with a personal-best of 17.58 seconds, while earning fourth in the 1500m and 400m with personal-best times.
Fellow first-year decathletes Kelvin Paulino-Acosta and Ryan McCarthy also had strong outings, finishing in 10th and 11th respectively. Paulino-Acosta had a record weekend with three personal-bests on the track and three on the field, including a gold medal performance in the discus with a personal-best mark of 33.55m. McCarthy also grabbed a personal-best total score of 3557 to finish in 11th. The Massachusetts native earned two personal-bests on the track over the weekend in the 110m hurdles and the 1500m while grabbing a personal-best mark of 8.12m in the shot put.
