Archangelo grabs third heptathlon medal across two-day meet
STORRS, Conn. — Madeline Archangelo claimed third while Benjamin Healy grabbed seventh as the small contingency of Scared Heart University track & field athletes competed at the UCONN Northeast Challenge over the weekend.
Archangelo headlined a competitive weekend across the state for the two multi-event contingencies with a third-place finish in the Heptathlon, claiming a personal-best 4823 points in the process. A native of Collinsville, Conn., Archangelo grabbed a trio of fourth place finishes while earning a bronze medal in the 200m dash. The graduate student also earned a personal-best in the 800m with a finish of 2:29.47 that secured a third-place overall finish.
On the men's side, Healy had a strong outing in the decathlon, grabbing seventh place with two personal-bests. The graduate student earned five top-10 finishes across the 10 events including a personal-best fifth-place finish in the 100m dash, finishing in 11.03 seconds. Healy also claimed a personal-best in the discus throw, recording a mark of 30.17 meters which was good for 13th in the event as the Connecticut native grabbed a seventh-place overall finish.
