Pioneers Sweep AIC in Home Opener

Beranek and Mandic led the Pios with eight kills
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team defeated AIC in three quick sets Tuesday night, 3-0. Aleksa Mandic and Petr Beranek led the Pios with eight kills.

How It Happened:
The Pios took the first set in a smooth 23-14 victory. The Pios out-hit AIC .478 to .138 in percentage. Aleksa Mandic led SHU with four kills.
SHU kept it closer in the second as the teams went head-to-head battling through five ties. Sacred Heart went on a 6-2 run to take the 15-10 lead at the media timeout.
The Pios' momentum propelled them through the remainder of the second as they secured the win, 25-16.
SHU cruised through the third, subbing in bench players to get the job done. Zach Flynn tallied four kills and an ace off the bench for the Pios.

The Pioneers will host Dominican on Friday, January 31st, at 7:00 p.m. in the Pitt Center.
