WORCESTER, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University women's swim and dive team dropped their final dual meet of the season to Holy Cross on the road Sunday, 179-121. The Pioneers finish their season with an 8-5 record.
Senior
Rosemery Nieto secured the win in the 100 breaststroke out touching her opponent in a time of 1:08.73.
Sophomore
Sophia Velleco paced the Pioneers in the 200 butterfly with a winning time of 2:08.06.
Melanie Sanchez was right behind her in second with a time of 2:10.28.
Senior
Lola Barrett placed second in the 1M and 3M dive with a score of 278.60 and 276.80, respectively.
Securing another breaststroke win, Nieto finished the 200 in a time of 2:29.61.
Velleco dominated the pool in the 500 freestyle, winning by over 10 seconds in 5:11.24.
Melanie Sanchez secured the win in the 100 butterfly in 59.13.
The 200-freestyle relay team of
Emma Haas, Velleco, Sanchez and
Emma Davis secured the win in by two tenths of a second in 1:40.43.
The Pioneers head to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship for the first time February 12-15 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
