Fairfield, Conn. – Following a two-game home series against Saint Michael's, three players of the Sacred Heart women's ice hockey team earned weekly honors from the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA). 
Addie Bowlby was named Player of the Week, Brianna Morder received Defensive Player of the Week, and 
Hailey Jussila was recognized as Rookie of the Week for their standout performances.
 
Bowlby earned her first Player of the Week award this season following an outstanding performance on Friday night. On Friday, the Pioneers went on to beat Saint Michael's 6-1 behind Bowlby's hat trick, leading the offensive surge. She also attempted 13 shots, creating offensive opportunities the whole 60 minutes. 
 
Morden earned her first Defensive Player of the Week award this season following an outstanding two games. On Friday night, she tallied one goal and one assist while also shooting four shots. On Saturday, she didn't slow down. She scored another goal while also shooting nine shots, constantly creating offensive opportunities. 
 
Jussila earned her first Rookie of the Week honor after scoring her first career goal on Saturday afternoon. The transfer forward has quickly made her presence felt through her first six career games, consistently generating offensive opportunities for the Pioneers. In addition to her goal, Jussila blocked a shot in both games over the weekend, showing she can be a defensive presence. 
 
The Pioneers are back in action this weekend as they travel to Saint Anselm College for a two-game away series to continue NEWHA play.
