Pioneers Claim Multiple Titles at Big Red Invitational

Three champions and multiple podiums highlight the day

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Sacred Heart men's wrestling team delivered a strong overall showing on Sunday afternoon at the 2025 Big Red Invitational, hosted by Cornell. The Pioneers earned multiple podium finishes across all five groups, highlighted by three group champions and several standout performances.

Of Note:

Group B's Michael Schiffhauer (141) captured his bracket with a 3–1 outing, while Group C standout Dakota Asuncion (149) dominated his way to a perfect 3–0 championship run.
Henry Downing (174) added another Group C title behind a strong 2–1 performance, giving SHU three group champions on the day.
The Pioneers also delivered multiple podium performances, highlighted by runner-up finishes from Aidan Zarrella (174) and Anthony Clem (133) in Group B, Danny Delusant (149) in Group C, and Jake Samuels (149) in Group E.
Third-place finishes came from Connor MacDonald (149), Anthony Totta (165), and Eric Wolf (174) in Group B, John Sheehy and Jake Ice (141) in Group C (133), and Hank Powell (149) and Jaxon Torres (165) in Group D to round out SHU's strong showing.
Five Pioneers - Schiffhauer, Zarrella, Asuncion, J. Samuels, and Kevin Taylor - finished the afternoon tied with a team-leading three victories each.
