Pioneers secure 200 medley relay school record
GENEVA, Ohio – The Sacred Heart University swim and dive team came out hot on day one of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship as it broke the school record in the 200-medley relay. The Pioneers are tied in fifth place with Canisius heading into Thursday.
Emma Haas, Kristen Baker, Sophia Velleco and Rosemery Nieto crushed the school record in the 200-medley relay by nearly three seconds with a time of 1:43.26 finishing fourth.
The Pioneers finished sixth in the 800-freestyle relay in a time of 7:38.55. The team was comprised of Sophia Velleco, Meghan Hammarlund, Maeve English and Melanie Sanchez.
The Pioneers will return to Spire Institute tomorrow, Thursday, February 13, beginning at 10 a.m. with finals at 6 p.m.
