Pioneers Sweep 3m Dive on Day 2 of MAAC Championship

Sinclair Yadao clinches the gold for the Pios in the 3m

GENEVA, Ohio – The Sacred Heart University women's swim and dive team wrapped up a successful day two of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship in fourth place with a new school record and sweep of the 3m dive.

Sinclair Yadao secured the gold for the Pioneers in the 3m with a score of 255.80. In second, with a score of 236.20 was Lola Barrett. Phifey Boyers completed the sweep for SHU with a score of 231.25 in third. Kara Leahy secured seventh with a score of 203.70.

Sophia Velleco started the night off for the Pioneers crushing her own school record and secured a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle in a time of 4:52.87. Charlotte Kaduson swam in the 'B' final securing a SHU top five time in 5:07.14.

In the 200 IM, Daniella Palamaro secured third all-time at SHU in a time of 2:08.24 finishing 14^th.

Emma Haas finished 16^th for the Pioneers in the 50 freestyle in a time of 24.39.

The 200-freestyle relay of Kristen Baker, Melanie Sanchez, Haas and Emma Davis secured eighth place in 1:37.42.

In a morning time trial, Haas secured a CSCAA National Invitational Championship qualifying time in the 50 butterfly in 24.96.

The Pioneers return to action tomorrow, February 14, at 10 a.m. for prelims. Tomorrow's events include the 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and the 400 medley relay.
