SHU claimed wins at 133, 141, 149, 157, and 165 pounds

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's wrestling team dropped to 0-4 in EIWA play as the Pioneers suffered a tough 29-20 home setback to the Morgan State Bears Sunday evening inside the William H. Pitt Center.

Of Note:
The match saw both teams securing crucial victories, but it was Morgan State's unwavering determination and exceptional performance in the heavier weight classes that truly shaped the outcome of the match, inspiring all who witnessed their resilience.

SHU had a strong start, despite a fall loss from Michael Baker at 125 pounds, with Braxton Fries-Appello earning the tech fall win at 133 pounds, followed by Andrew Fallon's forfeit victory at 141 pounds.

In a tightly contested battle, SHU's Dakota Asuncion triumphed over Yannis Charles of Morgan State by decision with a score of 8-5.

Felix Lettini fought a nail-biting match against Joshua Greenwood as Lettini's strategic moves and timely takedowns allowed him to edge out Greenwood with a narrow 6-5 decision.

Calvin Pineda showcased a dominant performance in the 165-pound weight class, defeating Kyle Grey by decision, 8-2.

The turning point in the match came at 174, where Darrien Roberts won by tech fall, 15-0, gaining five points and significantly helping the Bears close the gap. The heavyweights were instrumental in the final score, with the Bears securing falls at 184, 197, and 285 pounds, contributing six crucial points for the visitors.
