SHU brings in fourth set of MAAC weekly awards
EDISON, N.J— Following a 2-0 week, the Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team has brought in a pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) weekly awards. Junior Michael Moreschi has been named the Offensive Player of the Week, and first-year Dom Basti was selected the Rookie of the Week.
Moreschi, who earns the first MAAC weekly award honor of his career, had nine points, leading Sacred Heart offensively in its 2-0 week. He had a career-high six points from four goals and two assists in the Pios 16-1 win over Iona on Wednesday. On Saturday, Moreschi followed that up with three points, coming from one goal and two assists in SHU's 13-12 OT victory over Marist. He also added two ground balls, and one caused turnover throughout the week.
Basti brings in his second Rookie of the Week honor after he had five points for the Pioneers. He dished out two assists in the Pios' 16-1 win over Iona and three points, coming from two goals and one assist, in SHU's 13-12 OT victory over Marist.
Sacred Heart will return to action on Saturday, April 5, at noon, making the short trip to Quinnipiac.
