Men’s Wrestling Wraps Up EIWA Championship with Three Top-Eight Finishes

Fries-Appello, Lettini, and Perez highlighted the Pios this weekend in Bethlehem, PA
Bethlehem, Pa. – The Sacred Heart University men's wrestling team wrapped up the 2025 EIWA Championship on Saturday afternoon with strong individual performances, highlighted by Hunter Perez's seventh-place finish at 184 pounds. Braxton Fries-Appello (133 pounds) and Felix Lettini (157 pounds) also secured eighth-place finishes, contributing to the team's 25 points over the two-day event.
Powered by four individual champions, Lehigh captured its fist EIWA team championship. Drexel was the runner-up with 122.5 points, while Army West Point and Navy tied for third place with 116.5 points.
The day kicked off with Fries-Appello going head-to-head with Navy's Brendan Ferretti for the seventh-place spot. Despite a valiant effort, Fries-Appello was pinned in 1:08, allowing Ferretti to claim the spot. Fries-Appello finished the two-day event with an overall record of 2-3.
Next, Lettini battled Hofstra's Jurius Clark in a tightly contested match, but Clark came out on top with a 7-6 decision. Lettini closed out the championship bout with 2-3 overall record.
In the day's final bout, Perez secured his seventh-place finish by earning a forfeit win over Army's Jakob Gilfoil. Following the forfeit win, Perez registered a winning record of 3-2.
