SHU wins nine of 10 bouts Saturday evening against the Purple Knights

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's wrestling team delivered a dominant performance Saturday evening, rolling past new crosstown rival University of Bridgeport by a decisive 41–3 score.

Of Note
The Pioneers dominated the dual from start to finish, winning nine of the 10 bouts.

Sacred Heart opened the match with back-to-back decisions at 125 and 133 pounds, as Corey Iannucci earned a 9–4 victory over Cristian Mendoza before Caden Smith followed with a 12–8 decision against Anthony Mendoza to give SHU an early lead.

At 141 pounds, Jaiden Hernandez continued the momentum with a convincing 7–1 decision, while Dakota Asuncion added to the advantage at 149 pounds with a win over Gatlin Krepela.

Felix Lettini shut out Matthew Ryan, 4–0, at 157 pounds before AJ Falcone delivered the most dominant performance of the night, securing a 21–6 technical fall at 165 pounds.

The Pioneers added to their advantage with three consecutive forfeit victories at 171, 184, and 197 pounds by Aidan Zarrella, Nick Franzen, and Chris DeLena.

Heavyweight Marc Berisha capped the evening with a 10–3 decision over Christopher Jeudy at 285 pounds.
