Pabich tallied SHU’s goal on the power play
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Reid Pabich scored the lone goal for the Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey team in its 5-1 loss to No. 6/7 Quinnipiac in the semifinals of the CT Ice Tournament, hosted by Yale on Friday evening at Ingalls Rink in New Haven, Conn.

How It Happened
The Bobcats thought they scored the first goal of the game at 6:38 in the first period, but the Pioneers challenged for an offside and won, keeping the game scoreless early on.
Quinnipiac would go on to score the game's first goal at 10:21 in the first, capitalizing on a deflection in front of the crease. The puck found a SHU skate before getting to Anthony Cipollone for a putback.
The Pios had a few chances to tie the score, highlighted by a shorthanded breakaway from Reid Pabich, but his shot was turned away. SHU also saw Charles Tardif bang the team's second shot off the pipe. Despite a solid start for the Pioneers, QU took a 1-0 lead into the second period.
Quinnipiac added two goals in the second period, one on the power play, to take a 3-0 advantage into the third.
The third period started off with back-and-forth play before QU made it 4-0 at 08:21. Sacred Heart answered 7:22 later with a power play strike from Pabich. The senior took a pass from Mikey Adamson just outside the right circle before burying it blocker side.
QU added one more goal with an empty-netter in the final two minutes to settle the final score at 5-1.
Between the pipes, Teagan Kendrick made 34 saves against the seventh-ranked offense in the country.

The Pioneers await the result of tonight's game between hosting Yale and No. 13 UConn. SHU will play at 4 p.m. against the losing team in the 7:30 p.m. contest.
