How it Happened:
The Pioneers' scoring onslaught started quickly, as McLaughlin put the home team up 1-0 3:58 into the game. The junior forward stole the ball near the arc, beat a back to the endline before scoring over the opposing keeper.

Sacred Heart struck again near the end of the second quarter, doubling the lead to 2-0 at 26:06. This time, Pompeo found the back of the net, burying the last of two saved shots for her third goal of the season. Holly DeAngelo earned an assist on the saved shot right before Pompeo's tally.

The Pioneers burst out of the gates after halftime, scoring twice in the first five minutes of the third to double the lead again. King made it 3-0 SHU, taking a perfect pass from McLaughlin before deking the goalie for an easy score to the right corner of the cage at 31:01. About four minutes later, Lynch tipped a King pass across the goal line on a perfectly executed penalty corner play at 35:00 to make it 4-0.

With the game well in hand, Collier iced the win with SHU's fifth goal, the first of her career, at 55:44, tying the team's season-high scoring output. Hofstra scored in the final four minutes, and the final score settled at 5-1 for the Pioneers at Johnson Field.

In cage, Brianna Cooper collected her fourth win of the season in a complete-game effort.
