Men’s Golf Sits in Ninth After Round One of Battle at Rum Pointe

Lacayo and Rothberg pace SHU
BERLIN, Md. – After the first round of the Battle at Rum Pointe, Sacred Heart University men's golf ranks ninth in a 16-team field, playing at the Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links in Berlin, Md.
The Pioneers finished Friday with a team score of 302 (+14). The middle of the leaderboard is tightly contested as SHU is just five strokes out of fifth place. Iona and Fairfield lead the way with scores of one-under 287.
Pablo Lacayo and Mike Rothberg lead the way for the Pios in T14th. Both players carded rounds of 73 (+1) as they have posted the same score in back-to-back rounds.
Quin Adams and Ronan Mooney are next on the leaderboard for SHU in T57th. The duo ended the day with rounds of 78 (+6).
Sho Suzuki and Jon Bushka rounded out the Pioneers' competitors in T66th after rounds of 79 (+7).
The Pios conclude the Battle at Rum Pointe with round two tomorrow morning.
