
Women's Track and Field Finish First at the at Southern Connecticut State Univ. Wilton Wright Invitational

Brogioli leads the way
New Haven, Conn -- The Sacred Heart University women's track and field team put together a dominant performance, securing a first-place victory at the Southern Connecticut State University Wilton Wright Invitational on Friday afternoon.
The field events got underway first, and the Pioneers wasted no time turning in strong performances. In the high jump, Magdalena Brogioli led the way with a first-place finish after clearing 1.60m. Kaitlyn Caraco followed in second, while Susan Porto rounded out the top three with a third-place finish. The trio combined to earn 24 valuable points for the Pioneers in a single event.
The javelin throw proved to be another dominant event for the Pioneers. Valentina Termine led the way with a first-place finish, recording a throw of 34.67m. Molly Farrell followed closely behind in second with a mark of 33.39m, while Brogioli added a fourth-place finish with a throw of 31.79m. The trio combined to earn 23 points for the Pioneers.
Ava Srinivasan kicked off a strong day in the triple jump, earning a second-place finish with a mark of 11.25m.
In the pole vault event, Sophie Aglietti had herself a good day after earning eight valuable points following a second-place finish. She recorded a mark of 3.50m.
On the track side, it was once again Brogioli who got things started for the Pioneers. She earned a second-place finish in the 100m hurdles, clocking a time of 14.33 seconds, adding eight valuable points to the team's total. Brogioli's day wasn't done there. In the 100m dash, she secured another podium finish, placing third overall with a time of 11.97 seconds. Across her four events, Brogioli totaled an impressive 29 points for the Pioneers.
Srinivasan continued her strong day, this time on the track side of the meet. In the 400m hurdles, she finished third overall after clocking a time of 1:06.01. It marked her second podium finish of the day.

The Pioneers will return to action next weekend, competing on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19 at the 50th ECAC Division I Women's & 149th IC4A Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Events are set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
