Colin Bemis enters his sixth year at Sacred Heart University as an Athletic Trainer. He began his tenure as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer before transitioning into a full-time role. His primary sport responsibilities include men’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross-country, while also assisting with men’s and women’s track and field, specifically the distance and mid-distance event groups. Throughout his time at SHU, he has additionally supported men’s soccer, women’s lacrosse, football, women’s rowing, and women’s wrestling.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Bemis serves as an Approved Clinical Instructor within the University’s graduate Athletic Training program and as an Adjunct Professor in the undergraduate Exercise Science program.
Bemis earned his master’s degree with honors in Exercise Science and Nutrition with an emphasis in Sports Science from SHU. His graduate thesis, “The Relationship Between Foot Posture and Drop-Jump Landing Mechanics,” reflected his interest in lower extremity biomechanics and performance. During his graduate studies, he was awarded the Silver Medal of Excellence. He previously graduated summa cum laude from Quinnipiac University with a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine.
Bemis is a BOC-certified Athletic Trainer and holds Connecticut state licensure. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and is excited to continue working alongside a dedicated staff and outstanding student-athletes at SHU.
