Warnick comes to Sacred Heart after serving as the head track & field coach and assistant athletic director of business and finance at Southern Virginia University. During his three seasons, the Knights won 14 individual conference titles. In addition, 16 athletes earned Division III All-South region honors. Warnick also oversaw the program's first NCAA Indoor Championship qualifier in the 800m.
Prior to Southern Virginia, Warnick served as an assistant coach at Eastern University, where he coached the throwers from 2017 to 2018.
Before getting into coaching, Warnick had an outstanding career as a javelin thrower at the Division I level. He began his career at the United States Air Force Academy in 2009 before transferring to Brigham Young University in 2013, where he was coached by former NCAA Division I Champion and Olympic discus thrower Niklas Arrhenius and Olympic distance runner Ed Eyestone. Warnick became a two-time NCAA qualifier with a personal best of 67.90 m., which was fifth all-time on the program's top-ten list.
A native of Delta, Utah, Warnick graduated from BYU in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He is currently working on his MBA with a concentration in management from Eastern University.
