Men's Track and Field Finish First in the Rider University Invitational 5-Way

The Pioneers claim nine event victories
Lawrenceville, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University men's track and field team delivered a dominant performance at the Rider University 5-Way Invitational, finishing first out of five teams. The Pioneers totaled an impressive 247 team points, finishing well ahead of the second-place team, which recorded 153 points. Sacred Heart also tallied an impressive nine event victories.
Colin Brown got the day started for the Pioneers with a first-place finish in the 100m, crossing the line in 10.68. Gavin Alvarez, followed with a victory in the 400m after posting a time of 50.21 seconds.
Michael Maresca added another win for Sacred Heart in the 3000m, finishing in 8:57.59. First year Ian Crowley continued the momentum with a first-place finish in the hurdles, recording a time of 14.94.
The Pioneers closed out the track events with a victory in the 4x400 relay, as Brodie Proulx, Brown, Connor Meikle, and Carter Kelly combined for a winning time of 3:26.44.
Samuel Madden got the Pioneers started on the field side with a first-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.70m. Francisco Amore continued his strong season with another event victory in the pole vault, posting a mark of 4.35m.
Tyler Durang added to the Pioneers' dominant performance with a win in the discus, recording a mark of 45.97m. He capped off an impressive day with a second victory in the hammer throw, delivering a commanding mark of 55.65m nearly six meters ahead of the second-place finisher.

The Pioneers return to action next weekend at the George Mason University Ebanks Invitational, set for Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
