Sacred Heart Falls to Robert Morris, 8-1

Fairfield, CT-The Pioneers were unable to sustain a solid start and eventually fell to the Colonials, 8-1 Tuesday night at the Wonderland of Ice. Seven different players scored goals for Robert Morris as they scored a team high eight goals. Taryn Lapierre (Oakland, RI) scored Sacred Heart's lone goal at the end of the second period.

Robert Morris (8-8-1) broke the ice seven minutes into the game on Sara O'Malley fifth goal of the season. The Colonials widened the margin to 3-0 on markers from Alissa Dorman and Whitney Pappas. Robert Morris notched a power play goal at the end of the period to bring the score to 4-0 at the first intermission.

Sacred Heart (4-9-0) battled back in the second period as the flow of the game began to level. The second period looked as though it would end scoreless until LaPierre notched the frames only goal with 32 seconds to play. Sacred Heart headed into the second intermission trailing 4-1.

Robert Morris dominated the third period outshooting the Pioneers 17-5 and added four goals. The Colonials sealed the game with two goals in 58 seconds midway through the period, including Dorman's second of the day. Raelene Sydor (St. Albert, AB) entered the game with 8:25 to play and made four saves and allowed no goals.

The Pioneers are now 0-9-0 all-time against the Colonials heading into the series finale tomorrow afternoon. Sacred Heart will play their last game of the calendar year tomorrow at 2:00 pm at the Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport, CT.
