Pioneers Downed by Rider, 4-0

Lawrenceville, NJ- Kim Stow made 22 saves in net for the SHU field hockey team but the Pioneers fell 4-0 Friday night at Rider. SHU had been coming off of its first NEC win of the season last time out but could not make it two in a row. Sacred Heart falls to 4-10 overall with the loss, 1-2 in the Northeast Conference.
Rider (12-1, 3-0 NEC) got on the board early when Virginia Egusquiza scored an unassisted goal 3:56 into the contest. Rider notched its second goal of the game with 24:15 to go in the half, when EEfje Kok scored on a cross from Sandra Penas. Rider would take that 2-0 lead into halftime.
The two teams remained scoreless for almost the first 24 minutes of the second half, until Egusquiza connected with Penas for the Broncs third goal of the game. The Broncs final goal came with only 14 seconds to play when Kok scored her second of the game on an assist from Dezarae Fillmyer.
The SHU field hockey team returns to action this Sunday as the travel to Monmouth for a clash with the Hawks.
